Five String Banjo
Better angels
Bought a one way ticket
To a solid stone
Near a willow tree
A girl slept there
Of that deep sleep
Upon the black breast
Of an old grave
Motherless we were born
Cold we remained near campfires
Where we dreamt of ample hips
And kicked dirt upon raging fires
For we forgot how sweet lips taste
When a kiss is stolen
But always is returned
To lips for others to kiss
And the inner eye
Deafened by loneliness
Left a shadow near a white arch and passage
To say goodbye
There is no truth
Just a moment lost
When better angels
Bought a one way ticket
To an old grave
