A Gift to Numb All Pain
I read today that “…one
should never say no to a gift from a child.”
Twenty-two years have passed since I changed your first
diaper; and, a decade ago I told you my last good bye.
I have learned much since then. Sometimes about others;
often about myself. But I have not asked
that questions that start with “Why?” I do not know if I can do much if I knew
the answer.
But I have learned that many things happen for no
reason. They brighten one’s life or
destroy it into a new unknown. Things happen because they are expected to
happen. Even when unexpected, they keep on happening.
So, I learned to keep on walking, even if in a different
way. In a different place. Among new people.
Because I once received a gift from a little girl with hazel
eyes.
And that is enough for me.
